Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Improved integrated pest management programs for food processing and storage facilities require improvements in our ability to monitor pest populations and use this information to target management tactics in both time and space. The use of pheromone traps to detect pests is increasing in the food industry, but implementation has been hampered by lack of information on how to use pheromone trap capture information. In this presentation some of the practical issues associated with implementing and interpreting pheromone monitoring programs will be presented, as well as recent advances in pheromone trapping research. Points will be illustrated using recently collected data from the field and laboratory.
