Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The systematics and formal description of the taxa in the suborder Glycomycineae and family Glycomycetaceae and the physiology, systematics and ecology of the species that currently compose the actinobacterial genus Glycomyces is presented. The phylogenetic position of the taxa within this genus, including Glycomyces arizonaensis, Glycomyces harbinensis, Glycomyces lechevalierae, Glycomyces algeriensis, Glycomyces rutgersensis, and Glycomyces tenuis relative to the taxa in other genera within the Class Actinobacteria is discussed and a key to diffentiate the genera in the family Glycomycetaceae is presented. Methods for isolation, preservation, and characterization are detailed.
