Technical Abstract: The phylogenetic relationships of the major suprafamilial groups of Diptera is presented based on an indepth review of the literature. We used the Manual of Nearctic Diptera chapters on phylogeny of Diptera as the basis for this review, updated to reflect all known work on Diptera phylogeny since 1989. Suggestions are made for areas of future research.
