Technical Abstract: The book is the second edition of a book with the same title and authors. This edition incorporates recent changes in nomenclature, new species listings and updates of geographic distribution of North American mosquitoes. Twelve species have been added to the book since the first edition. This is due to invasive species, naming of sibling species, and reinstating subgenus Ochlerotatus to genus status. This book serves as a cornerstone in mosquito identification courses. The taxonomic keys of immature and adult stages have been revised. It is a valuable resource for anyone interested in learning about the basics of mosquito morphology and identification.
