Technical Abstract: Scientists at the Center for Medical, Agricultural, and Veterinary Entomology, Gainesville, Florida were asked to provide a technical review of the subject publication by the Review Editor, JAMA Book, Journal, and New Media. The book comprises 57 chapters authored by 72 research scientists. Subject matter includes vector biology, epidemiology and surveillance, arthropod physiology, genetics, molecular biology, and control. Twelve chapters are devoted to the rearing and maintenance of various groups of vector arthropods. The book was written for graduate students, postdocs, and independent researchers and was judged to be a comprehensive and authoritative reference for disease vector biologists.
