Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: 'Kettleman' apricot is being introduced for production and propagation by the Agricultural Research Service to complement the fresh market apricots available to producers. 'Kettleman' apricot ripens between 'Earlicot' and Castlebrite' and harvest is accomplished with a limited number of passes through the field. Fruit of 'Kettleman' are generally deep orange in color with little blush, even on the most exposed fruit. Trees are self-incompatible and require another apricot variety in the orchard to accomplish pollination and fruit set. 'Poppy' apricot is the recommended pollenzier at this time. Fruit of the 'Kettleman' have an acceptable Brix: Acid ratio, are freestone in character and exhibit characteristic apricot aroma when well-matured.
