Interpretive Summary: The lobate lac scale, native to India and Sri Lanka, was first found in south Florida in 1999. It has become a pest of woody ornamentals and fruit trees in south Florida and has a wide host range. A variety of reported hosts are present in the germplasm collection located at the USDA/ARS Subtropical Horticulture Research Station in Miami. Studies have been initiated to determine the spatial and temporal distribution of the scale population.
