Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This article reviews the book "Climate Change and Global Crop Productivity" by K.R. Reddy and H.F. Hodges. The book contains 21 chapters written by experts in the field of agricutlure and global change. The quality of the individual chapters is generally high as compared to many multi-author compendia on the agronomy book market. The coverage of material is extensive and well supported by figures and references. The writing style is generally clear. Comparison across chapters dealing with individual crops is aided by parallel organization of major sections. An index is provided but seems incomplete. While one can always imagine "the perfect book," Climate Change and Global Crop Productivity does provide a valuable synthesis of research on impacts of global change on agriculture. It offers an excellent entry point for researchers interested in crop productivity per se. The book is highly suitable for a graduate course on crop physiology as applied to global change, especially if supplemented with more recent research results in this rapidly evoloving field.
