Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The efficacy of pest management programs is highly dependent on the means used to delivery crop protection materials. Matching the sprayer to the delivery needs can not only lead to higher yields but also improved crop quality. Sprayer selection can also influence operator safety, the impact of applications on the environment, as well as time necessary to make applications, mix chemicals, and maintain the sprayer. Research has demonstrated the importance of good tank agitation systems and nozzles to provide the most efficacious delivery of materials while minimizing the impact of the application on the environment. These research results and recommendations will not guarantee pest control in every situation but they do provide growers with information that will help them best match the sprayer to their pest management program and budget.
