Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is a highly conserved protein that is essential for cell function. We present the molecular analysis of Hsp90 from protozoa which cause coccidiosis. The full-length Eimeria acervulina Hsp90 cDNA was isolated from intestinal intraepithelial lymphocytes of Eimeria infected chickens. The structure of the Hsp90 gene in E. acervulina and Eimeria tenella is conserved, however their expression profiles differ. Genetic diversity of Hsp90 was investigated in three isolates of E. acervulina. Isolate specific sequences were recovered in one of the isolates, while the remaining two could not distinguished.
