Crop Science. 45:2671-2672. Interpretive Summary: This paper documents the development of a 353 line F10 generation set of lines from a wide cross. Such materials are useful for mapping genes to chromosomes, as has already been done for the low phytic acid gene and is expected for a straighthead resistance gene and others. Technical Abstract: A genetic mapping population of 353 F10 set of lines was developed by crossing a japonica rice with an indica rice. Such wide crosses are extremely useful for mapping genes to specific chromosomes, as has already been done for the low phytic acid gene, and will be done for additional genes. |
