Technical Abstract: This chapter discusses how the ovary develops during puberty and the influence of both bird age and feeding level on ovarian development. The effects of Bonus feeding on carcass traits, blood plasma fat concentration, ovary weight, liver fat accumulation, and plasma hormone levels are presented. These changes are discussed in relation to management of the broiler breeder hen at the time of sexual maturity.
