Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This report summarizes research across the world in 2001 that placed additional markers, genes and quantitative trait loci (QTLs) on chromosome 7H and developed new resources for barley researchers. A genotyping set of SSR markers has been developed that have high levels of polymorphism. QTLs were located for agronomic traits, disease resistance, deep-seeding tolerance, green plant regeneration response, and other traits. Linkage maps for Hordeum bulbosum and H. chilense were developed. Deletion breakpoints have been located as physical landmarks in linkage maps, providing additional breakpoints that were not recovered in the translocation stocks.
