Partial stunting of plants and reduction in ear size and number of kernels is often observed upon infection of maize. There are no satisfactory control measures for this virus or its insect vector. This chapter provides up-to-date descriptions of the biology and molecular biology of maize rayado fino virus. The information in this chapter will serve as a valuable reference for scientists and the extension service and will aid in the diagnosis of the disease caused by this virus and lead to the development of novel technologies for plant virus disease control.
