Interpretive Summary: The papers collected in this book represent presentations at the joint meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Plant Molecular Biology Society and Phytochemical Society of North America. Technical Abstract: Disease and pest resistance, over-production of secondary metabolites for pharmaceutical purposes and many other agricultural problems fall into the realm of phytochemistry and are now studied through techniques of molecular biology and functional genomics. The papers collected in this book represent presentations at the joint meeting of the Mid- Atlantic Plant Molecular Biology Society and Phytochemical Society of North America.
