Insect parasites of these caterpillars provide natural control and are often used in biologically based control programs. This paper describes a new parasite of a leaf mining moth that was found in southern Arizona and provides aids to differentiate it from related species. This information will be useful to insect identifiers and scientists involved in the control of pest caterpillars. Technical Abstract: Cirrospilus infuscatus, n.sp. (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae), is described from southeastern Arizona. This species was reared from Tischeria bifurcata (Lepidoptera: Tischeriidae) on Ceanothus fendleri A. Gray (Rhamnaceae). |
