Interpretive Summary: Flies form one of the most diverse, important, and speciose groups of organisms. More than 10% of the known world biodiversity are flies. Of the some 150,000 flies known worldwide, about 1.2% occur in Madagascar and 1% are found only in Madagascar. The Diptera fauna of Madagascar is considered poorly known. An overview of those found on Madagascar is provided, making a useful summary for agricultural workers, as well as conservationists and others interested in biodiversity.
