The incidence of ALV-J infection was significantly higher in chickens contact-exposed to virus at hatch than in those exposed at 2 or 8 weeks of age. Further, maternal antibody reduced incidence of viremia and shedding in chickens exposed to virus at hatch. The data suggest that age at exposure and the presence of maternal antibody may influence incidence of ALV-J-induced viremia and shedding. |
