Technical Abstract: A review of the book "Pflanzenwespen Deutschlands (Hymenoptera, Symphyta" edited by A. Taeger and S. M. Blank is presented. The book includes 15 articles by 18 authors covering the German sawfly fauna, host plants, systematics, and biology. Bibliographies of sawfly researchers, dating of old publications, and correct authorship of names, such as those by Brischke and Zaddach, Lepeletier, and Audinet-Serville, are discussed. Many changes effect the names of sawflies worldwide. Some cases that effect the names of the North American fauna are noted.
