Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Protaetia pryeri (Coleoptera: Cetoniiae) is an introduced pest on Midway Islands (US Fish and Wildlife Refuge). This pest feeds on numerous fruits, vegetables and flowers and is also considered a nuisance to people. This pest is currently not in Hawaii or any other U.S. state. The potential of eradicating this pest from the Midway Islands was evaluated. Soil sampling was conducted to determine the density, stage and location of the immature stages. Laboratory and field trials with the soil insecticide, halofenozide were conducted.
