Megachile (Megachile) montivaga (Hymenoptera: Megachilidae) nesting in live thistle (Asteraceae: Cirsium). Journal of Melittology. 48:1-6. Interpretive Summary: The bees of tropical Asia are among the least known of any place in the world. This is certainly true of the tribe of carder and resin bees (Anthidiini). A new species of resin bee of the rare genus Trachusoides is described from Laos. Until this discovery Trachusoides was known from a single specimen from southern India. Technical Abstract: The rare genus Trachusoides, previously known only from a single species inhabiting the Western Ghats of India, is reviewed. Trachusoides elsieae, new species, is described from Laos, an additional record for T. simplex is documented, and a key to separate the species is provided. |
