Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The BioPreferred(SM) Program is a U.S. government initiative intended to encourage the development and widespread use of biofuels, biolubricants, and other biobased products in the U.S. The program consists of the preferred procurement and the voluntary labeling programs. Companies wishing to have their products certified and listed under the BioPreferred(SM) Program must set up an account at the program website run by the U.S.D.A. Since 1996, the U.S.D.A. has published numerous categories of biofuels and biolubricants in the BioPreferred(SM) Program. The program also engages in publicizing the benefits of biobased products through testimonials posted on the “Success Stories” page of the BioPreferred(SM) website.
