Interpretive Summary: The relative effectiveness of a trap, a toxic scatter bait and a toxic bait strip for house fly management on Florida dairies. After 24-h, the average number of house flies captured was: Captivator trap 1624> QuikStrike Scatter Bait 138> QuikStrike Strip 95. Results indicated the need for multi-trap systems. The evaluation of a single trap or multiple traps for house flies on Florida dairies indicated that more information is needed on the best use of traps, proper placement, and how many are needed to produce the best results.

Technical Abstract: One objective was to evaluate the relative effectiveness of a trap, a toxic scatter bait and a toxic bait strip for house fly management on Florida dairies. The 24-h average number of house flies captured by the treatments was: Captivator trap 1624> QuikStrike Scatter Bait 138> QuikStrike Strip 95. One trap is not enough to affect the large populations, indicating the need for multi-trap systems. We also evaluated the relative effectiveness of a single trap or multiple traps for house fly management on Florida dairies. More information is needed on the best use of traps, proper placement, and how many are needed to produce the best results.
