Research Project: Social Network Analysis of Hydrotreated Renewable Jet Fuel Value Chains

Location: Northern Great Plains Research Laboratory

Project Number: 5445-21660-003-16
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 01, 2013
End Date: Sep 30, 2014

Objective:
Assess supply chain structure and interactions among institutions to identify and overcome barriers to successfully implementing an oilseed to hydrotreated renewable jet (HRJ) fuel industry.

Approach:
The potential institutions that link individual producers to the evolving value chain will be identified. Profiles of these institutions will be developed from document analysis, focus groups, and interactional analysis. These profiles will developed for different potential oilseed production regions within the U.S., including the traditional wheat production regions of Northern Great Plains, Central Great Plains, and Pacific Northwest. These regional profiles will result in regional case studies assessing similarities and differences in effective coalition building strategies. These will be used in developing management guidelines and identifying best practices and recommendations.
