Location: Arthropod-borne Animal Diseases Research
Project Number: 3020-32000-009-007-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Jun 1, 2014
End Date: May 31, 2019
Objective:
Develop and evaluate assays that will provide the technical capability to distinguish vaccinated animals (DIVA) from naturally infected animals that are compatible with the MP-12-NSm-del vaccine candidate.
Approach:
Rift Valley fever viral proteins have been produced using E. coli and baculovirus recombinant expression systems. These proteins will be used in various diagnostic platforms including; Lateral Flow Assay, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay and Fluorescence microsphere immunoassay. These assays will be evaluated at to which is the most compatible and effective for use as a companion diagnostic tool for use with the MP-12-NSm-del vaccine candidate. These assays will be evaluated as to which is the most compatible and effective for use as a companion diagnostic tool associated with the candidate vaccine MP-12-NSm-del. The ABADRU scientists are collaborators/advisors on NSAID grant held by UTEP investigators to evaluate this vaccine in Tanzania.
