Objective:
University of California Davis (Cooperator) and the Agricultural Research Service
(ARS or Agency) desire to enter into this Agreement for the purpose of supporting
research to be carried out at ARS and Cooperator facilities. ARS desires the
Cooperator to provide a technician, postdoc, goods and services necessary to carry out research of mutual interest within the Pacific West Area, Albany, California.
The NACA will support the USDA development of disease resistance in potato and citrus. Results will have application in other crop plants. The Cooperator will
select/develop disease resistance receptor genes while the ARS will develop genetic constructs and generate transgenic potato and citrus for study. The work will contribute to the goals of integrating peer-review data for the use of research community, thereby accelerating improvement of potato, and citrus crops.
Approach:
The Agency Location is engaged in research addressing Plant Genetic Resources,
Genomics and Genetic Improvement. Under the authority of 7 USC 3319a, ARS desires
to acquire technical assistance, goods and services from the Cooperator to furtheragricultural research supports the independent interests of both parties.
