Research Project: Organic Amendment Effects on Strawberry Pathogens

Location: Citrus and Other Subtropical Products Research

Project Number: 6034-22000-046-009-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2020
End Date: Aug 31, 2024

Objective:
Conduct field trials evaluating multiple organic amendments as components of anaerobic soil disinfestation targeting the charcoal rot pathogen, Macrophomina phaseolina that is widespread in Florida strawberry production areas.

Approach:
Replicated field trials will be conducted comparing a standard approach to anaerobic soil disinfestation using composted broiler litter and molasses to alternative carbon and nitrogen amendments and determine the impact of these inputs on pathogen control.
