Location: Grape Genetics Research Unit (GGRU)

Project Number: 8060-21220-008-004-M
Project Type: Memorandum of Understanding

Start Date: Aug 10, 2020
End Date: Aug 9, 2025

Objective:
The purpose of this MOU is to strengthen the collaborations between the Participants in areas of mutual interest through cooperative research programs and exchanges. To this end, the Participants intend jointly to explore and coordinate research activities of mutual interest which are to be implemented by mutual understanding and in conformance with the regulations and policies of both Participants.

Approach:
1. ARS and Cornell will develop complementary programs for expanding their cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations to accelerate grapevine research to support US grape production. 2. ARS and Cornell will develop a common understanding and shared vision for the establishment of the future USDA-ARS National Grape Improvement Center to be built on the Cornell AgriTech Campus in Geneva, NY. 3. ARS and Cornell will determine what Cornell research programs will move into the Center and how much space they will occupy. 4. ARS will assign cost factors to different types of space for calculating maintenance costs for the Center and develop a long-term space use agreement acceptable to Cornell users.
