Research Project: Quantifying the Water Quality Benefits of Integrated Conservation Practices

Location: Soil Drainage Research

Project Number: 5080-13210-003-011-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: May 1, 2020
End Date: Aug 30, 2024

Objective:
Assess the water quality impact of different integrated conservation management practices (woodchip bioreactors, P removal structures, grassed furrow ditches, constructed wetlands, 2-stage ditches).

Approach:
A before after approach will be implemented where hydrology and water quality samples will be collected from inflow streams and outflow streams to document the effects of the single and integrated practices. The effects of the individual practices as well as the combination of practices will be parsed out in order determine the effects of practice integration. Both data collection and simulation techniques will be used.
