Location: National Programs

Project Number: 0500-00053-004-083-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: May 3, 2021
End Date: May 2, 2023

Objective:
The objectives of this research are: 1) use traditional and molecular breeding methods to improve FHB resistance in New York soft winter wheat and barley cultivars, 2) field screen adapted soft winter wheat and barley lines exhibiting FHB resistance, 3) use genomic approaches to improve and optimze breeding for FHB resistance in spring barley and 4) screen additional winter wheat and barley germplasm to identify novel sources of FHB resistance.

Approach:
The researcher will conduct traditional and molecular breeding methods to improve FHB resistance in soft winter wheat and barley for the state of New York.
