Research Project: National USDA Uniform Soybean Tests / Yield, Disease Resistance and Quality Traits Evaluation of Public Breeding Lines (Year 3 of 3)

Location: Crop Production and Pest Control Research

Project Number: 5020-21000-008-016-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2019
End Date: Sep 30, 2020

Objective:
Evaluate soybean entries for traits of interest under the Uniform Soybean Tests

Approach:
The Uniform Soybean Tests is a cooperative testing program that is a major mechanism for U.S. public soybean breeders to obtain multi-state field data to support the release of varieties and germplasm. Separate tests for each of maturity groups OO to VIII will be grown in appropriate locations across 19 states and two Canadian provinces, including maturities IV and V in Mississippi and maturities I, II, III, and IV in Indiana. Lines will be screened for resistance to important soybean diseases and pests, including southern stem canker and aphid resistance. Samples will be analyzed for seed composition, including protein and oil levels. The data will be collected, validated and compiled for analysis. After analysis, the results will be provided to participants and final reports will be provided to participants and final reports will be provided.
