Objective:
Conduct vaccine efficacy and pathogenesis studies to determine impact of host and Marek’s disease virus genes on disease development and disease resistance. Encourage and facilitate a student in animal science research through tuition support, in furtherance of the USDA Capital Management Plan. This agreement will complement the parent project by providing highly skilled animal caretaking opportunity for all objectives.

Approach:
Encourage and facilitate a student in animal science research through tuition support in furtherance of the USDA Capital Management Plan. This agreement will complement the parent project by providing highly skilled animal caretaking opportunity for all objectives. Student will be on part-time basis during veterinary school breaks. Major duties to include 1) Examine animals for signs of disease, injury, and abnormal behavior and report findings to attending veterinarian; 2) Assist scientific staff in handling animals, collection specimens and performing special assignments; 3) Inspect and maintain facilities to assure compliance with federal laws and facility regulations or policies.
