Research Project: Molecular Studies of Avian Influenza Viruses to Understand Ecology and Epidemiology at the Wildlife-agriculture Interface

Location: Exotic & Emerging Avian Viral Diseases Research

Project Number: 6040-32000-066-051-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2018
End Date: Dec 30, 2020

Objective:
To gain a better understanding of avian influenza virus ecology and epidemiology at the wildlife-agricultural interface.

Approach:
The cooperators will use Sanger and next-generation sequencing methods on avian influenza aviruses collected from the global network partners and obtain whole genome sequences that can be analyzed by newer, sophisticated molecular analytic methods. This will inform the ecology and epidemiology of these viruses.
