Research Project: Deployed War Fighter Protection Program (2018)

Location: Invasive Insect Biocontrol & Behavior Laboratory

Project Number: 8042-32000-012-016-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Oct 1, 2017
End Date: Sep 30, 2021

Objective:
1. Large scale synthesis, toxicological evaluation, and field evaluation of optimized pyriproxyfen-based insect growth regulators (IGRs). 2. Identify and evaluate novel adjuvants and synergistics of public health pesticides. 3. Development and evaluation of novel chemistries as vector control tools.

Approach:
Identify and test compounds with insecticidal activity that makes them especially beneficial in the rapid control of mosquitoes, flies, and other arthropods responsible for carrying disease agents. Devise innovative means of applying control agents especially suited for use in combat or deployment conditions. Identify and test new classes of topical and area repellents for use by troops.
