Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2018
End Date: Sep 28, 2022

Objective:
The primary goal is to immunize horses with BM86 protein and determine antibody reactivity against native tick proteins. The secondary goal is to test the efficacy of anti-BM86 antibodies in controlling tick infestation.

Approach:
The approach to test whether the vaccine control tick infestation is oulined below: 1) Vaccinate horses with BM86. 2) Collect serum and test the levels of antibodies. 3) Determine subisotype antibodies. 4) Determine the efficacy of anti-BM86 to control Rhipicephalus infestation.
