Objective:
The objective of this cooperative agreement is to develop and/or deliver specific scientific information and technologies for agricultural and natural resource managers that enable climate-smart decision-making and where possible provide assistance to enable land managers to implement those decisions.
Approach:
The Southwest Climate Hub as part of the ARS research unit based at the Jornada Experimental Range will work closely with the New Mexico State University Extension Service in developing science-based land management and conservation practices for ranches, farms and forested lands in New Mexico. This agreement specifically focuses on providing resources and information to the New Mexico Extension Service to support and enhance their existing programs with customers and stakeholders in New Mexico. This agreement also provides funding in support of a graduate student to study an aspect of climate and agriculture in the Southwest.
