Research Project: Protecting Livestock through Evaluation of Mode of Action of Substances Disrupting the Nervous System of Arthropod Pests Affecting Animal Production

Location: Livestock Arthropod Pests Research

Project Number: 3094-32000-042-010-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2018
End Date: Dec 31, 2019

Objective:
Completion of research evaluation and data analysis of the mode of action of substances disrupting the nervous system of arthropod pests affecting animal production.

Approach:
This agreement allows continuation of our research collaboration on improved livestock pest control methods. Specifically, we have identified novel substances that appear to affect the nervous system of livestock pests. Additional research is required to understand how the nervous system of livestock arthropod pests is disrupted by these substances. Additional experiments will be conducted by the collaborator with equipment he has available at his university. The collaborator will also contribute data analysis to generate scientific information that can be published.
