Research Project: Development of Genomic and Computational Resources to Support Agriculture

Location: Plant, Soil and Nutrition Research

Project Number: 8062-21000-044-004-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 15, 2017
End Date: Sep 14, 2022

Objective:
The objectives of this cooperative research project are to generate resources to support our understanding of genome function.

Approach:
Technological improvements in sequencing, imaging and robotics, are supporting unprecedented opportunities to generate data associated with an organism. While each of these data points provide value, the ability to integrate across these, provide unique insights into the how and organisms develops and responds to its environment. In this proposal we will focus on developing, adapting and implementing sequencing approaches to develop references genomic resources for agronomically important species. We will also develop, adapt and adopt computational infrastructure to support analysis and integration of these resources with genetic, and environmental data, to support knowledge of genetic programs associated with development and response to environment.
