Objective:
To assist ARS in the coordination with state seed certification agencies in order to obtain tuber samples from seed lots and to also distribute and store samples in labs conducting initial surveys.
Approach:
Samples will be received from cooperating organizations and will be distributed to labs. Cooperator will also test seed lot samples for PMTV, TRV and Dickeya to determine base line levels of pathogens in seed potato crop; compare primer sets for Dickeya diagnostics in order to optimize Dickeya detection and perform field trials for PMTV management and transmission to ascertain treatments that can reduce PMTV disease incidence. Cooperator will also contribute to the development and distribution of outreach materials for improved website content and grower meeting participation.
