Research Project: Sequencing Genomes and Transcriptomes of Livestock Pests

Location: Veterinary Pest Genetics Research Unit

Project Number: 3094-22320-001-010-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 1, 2016
End Date: May 30, 2022

Objective:
Increase the sequence information and genomic/transcriptomic annotation of livestock pests.

Approach:
Utilize state-of-the-art DNA sequencing technologies, such as Pac Bio Sequel and Illumina HiSeq, to sequence the genomes and transcriptomes of livestock pests. The prime focus will be upon the horn fly and ticks parasitizing cattle.
