Objective:
The genome of the cattle fever tick, Rhipicephalus microplus, has been sequenced using a hybrid approach of Illumina and Pac Bio technologies. In order to create a quality assembly, significant computational resources are required to error-correct the Pac Bio reads and then assemble into contigs and scaffolds.

Approach:
This project will assemble the Illumina and Pac Bio sequencing reads into a quality genome sequence for the cattle fever tick. The Pac Bio reads must be error corrected, most likely using assembled Illumina reads as the reference to guide correction of the individual Pac Bio reads. Upon completion of error correction, the Pac Bio reads and Illumina reads will be assembled into contigs and scaffolds.
