Objective:
Evaluate the potential of hatching factors or trap crops in the control or eradication of potato cyst nematode in Eastern Idaho.
Approach:
Information about the nature of hatching factors will be obtained by determining the distribution of hatching factors in different organs by partially purifying extracts from different tissues and testing these in hatching assays and by trying to manipulate one possible metabolic pathway to see if this affects production.
