Research Project: CEAP-GL Rangeland Brush Estimation Tool (RaBET)- Year One

Location: Southwest Watershed Research Center

Project Number: 2022-13610-013-036-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Aug 24, 2026
End Date: Sep 30, 2027

Objective:
Maintain existing websites for one year so that (Rangeland Brush Estimation Tool)RaBET and Soil Survey Geographic Database-Query Tool (SSURGO-QT) development projects can be restarted in a year, if funding becomes available. Continue to evaluate tools for possible improvement in both the user interface and algorithm for woody cover estimation.

Approach:
Contract with Stone Environmental, developers of both tools, to maintain tools for fiscal year 2027. ARS will travel to two states (possibly Texas and Nebraska) to meet with State Range Conservationists and evaluate woody cover estimates and soil quality information, as well as potential improvements to the interface.
