Project Number: 5030-21000-074-008-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Aug 1, 2026
End Date: Jul 31, 2027
Objective:
Maize whole-genome assemblies from 16 exotic derived lines will be leveraged as a high resolution reference panel to improve genotype imputation for 2500 doubled haploid lines.
Approach:
The Germplasm Enhancement of Maize (GEM) Project has whole-genome sequence data for 16 exotic derived maize lines. This data was used for generating high-quality genome assemblies. These 16 lines were also used as parents to develop ~2,500 double haploid lines. The doubled haploid lines were genotyped using a genotyping-by-target-sequencing (GBTS) approach. Analysis of the whole-genome sequence data will allow for imputation, or the estimation of alleles for the 2,500 lines that were genotyped at a lower coverage.
