Objective:
The goal of this study is to identify and characterize Tri6- and Tri10-interacting genes important for regulating DON biosynthesis. Specific objectives are to: 1) Identify and characterize Tri6-interacting genes; 2) Identify and characterize Tri10-interacting genes. 3) Determine the roles of Tri6- and Tri10-interacting genes in TRI10 regulation.
Approach:
Tri6- and Tri10-interacting genes will be identified by yeast two-hybrid assays and proteomics analysis. Their expression profiles and protein structures will be determined by bioinformatics analysis. Tri6- and Tri10-interacting genes specifically expressed during plant infection will be functionally characterized and analyzed for changes in TRI10 expression.
