Objective:
The overall objective of this research is to facilitate the development of barley cultivars with resistance to Fusarium head blight (FHB) and accumulation of the mycotoxins such as deoxynivalenol (DON). This objective will be addressed by characterizing and validating resistance loci in two segregating populations.
Approach:
The Scarlett/ISR42-8 and Multi-parent Advanced Generation Intercrosses (MAGIC) populations of barley will be phenotyped and genotyped to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) for resistance to FHB and DON accumulation. The identified QTL will be validated in other populations to advanced breeding lines.
