Objective:
We will evaluate effects of fungicides and genetic resistance on FHB and DON in winter and spring wheat, with emphasis on new combination fungicides and efficacies including Prosaro Pro, Sphaerex, and Miravis “Era”. We will compare the efficacy and economics of applications based on model forecasts to growth stage programs.
Approach:
We will establish spring and winter wheat nurseries, monitor plant growth stages, apply inoculum and irrigation to plots, and apply the selected fungicide regimes. We will monitor for disease development, collect disease data, harvest, and submit resulting seed to be analyzed for DON content.
