Objective:
1. FHB resistant soft red and white winter wheat varieties will be developed for the Great Lakes region.
2. Support and improve the agricultural economies of Michigan and states in the Great Lakes region by developing and releasing FHB-resistant varieties.
Approach:
1. Develop breeding populations.
2. Develop genomic predictions for FHB resistance.
3. Use Fhb1 in crossing and advancement decisions.
4. Phenotype Michigan wheat varieties in a FHB nursery.
5. Test grain yield at 25 locations across the Great Lakes Region
6. Educate growers and agribusiness on FHB management
