Objective:
Cooperator has invented novel AgTech, a planter that orients corn seed to ensure the root emerges and is able to grow downward while the shoots emerge through the soil and are positioned to maximize light interception. This project established cooperation between cooperator and ARS to support the development and acceleration of this novel AgTech planting technology across a range of growing conditions across the U.S.
Approach:
Cooperator will train ARS personnel on the operation and maintenance of the novel AgTech specialized planter, and will service the planter between planting periods. ARS will foster development and acceleration of this novel AgTech by providing locations across a transect of latitudes to evaluate the potential of this novel precision planting technology, provide within season measurements and yield data collected from the trials.
