Location: Diet, Genomics and Immunology Laboratory
Project Number: 8040-10700-006-004-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Aug 1, 2023
End Date: Mar 31, 2028
Objective:
The project seeks to elucidate the relationship between diet and the gut microbiome and impact on health outcome. Multi-omic bioinformatic approach will be employed:
1. To analyze transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics and metagenomics data using state-of -art bio-infromatics tools.
2. To integrate multi-omics data using AI-assisted tools to elucidate relationship and identify bio-markers for intake of food and beverage.
Approach:
Animal (Rodent or porcine models) will be fed with experimental diets. At the end of feeding, animals will be sacrafice and tissues, blood, fecal/cecal samples collected. Metabolomics, metagenomics, proteomics and transcriptomics will be analyzed in tissue and samples using currently available technologies. AI-assisted bioinformatic analysis will be performed to elucidate diet induced changes and identify biomarkers for intake and health efficacies end points such as inflammation or obesity related risks.
